Transferans is a multi-disciplinary record label and platform for artists. Founded by Özcan Ertek, it has been building a network of international artists with an emphasis on adaptation to the rapidly changing cultural and material conditions of contemporary musicians and sound artists today. Since 2017, through a continuous stream of releases and events, TRANSFERANS has evolved year by year to reflect the state of sound production and sound-based art practices, and their constant redefinition of experimentation. Inherent to the way the label is structured is a conversation between artists, working at the forefront of their field; from noise to cross-disciplinary practices between visual media, sound and technology. Based in İstanbul, with roots in Vienna and Berlin.
Transferans taps into and reflects the multi-national and innovative nature of the city’s unique music scene, nurturing and connecting its talent and experiments to a wider international scene. Transferans releases high quality, thoughtfully-designed physical editions of recordings and visual media, digital works in a wide range of formats, and organizes events and showcases

“Berlin based Turkish electronic producer Özcan Ertek aka Seretan has released a new single, ‘Lost In Time‘. Five years in the making and stemming from a collaborative jam back in 2013 with Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet at New York’s soon to be defunct Red Bull Music Academy, the track is characterised by the delicate boom of its insistent sub-bass beat and the rhythmic shuffle that saunters around it. It also boasts a heady mixture of disquieting synth, broken percussive elements and meticulously inserted field recordings done over time in and around his native Istanbul.”

Fatih Yapar is a visual artist and graphic designer who also releases electronic music under the moniker Acid Work. RAW is an Istanbul based live coding duo creating Audio Visual Performances. Performances are composed of improvisational sonic structures accompanied with pre-programmed interactive visual materials. Visuals have been developed with core programming environments and various visual manipulations occur with data received from sound to interact with. Furthermore, RAW invites the audience to immerse into the performance visually with using additional top cameras, and code views projected on large displays. Sonically the audial experience moves into the fields of noise, electronic, techno, minimal and ambient genres with improvisational forms.

Transferans’s first release “Teselli EP” consist of samples from low-resolution Youtube videos, vocals and abstract rhythms with lo-fi aesthetic that transforms into emotional and self-centered tracks of the musician. Between dense tape-hiss, bit sounds, reverbs and uncertain house and break rhythms dissolves in echo, it is possible to hear the emotional reactions of a young 20-year-old queer and progressive producer who lives in the “Middle East”.

“Following up on February’s remarkable ‘Transference’ EP, Turkish RBMA alumni Seretan returns with a new record this September, entitled ‘Persona.’ The new EP is inspired by Carl Gustav Jung’s theory of cognitive functions, four tracks dealing with “thinking,” “feeling,” “sensation” and “intuition.” This first track from the record features Peruvian composer and instrumentalist Ale Hop, whom Seretan met at the Red Bull Music Academy 2013 in New York. It’s an uneasy composition, full of anxiety-stained counterpoints and mystical undertones.

The aim is to change people’s ideas about Asian-ness which is often under-represented and stereotyped, and show a diversity of experimental and creative artists.↩
“Taking its name from the ranges where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Cambodia meet, the 3 tracks cassette features three artists corresponding to each corner of that historically disputed region. Vong’s own Lafidki opens, with the arrhythmic turbulence of colossal, layered synths loops in “Tycoon Typhoon”, while Ayankoko’s “Beneath the Stains” squeals and shrieks through scratchy glitches and signals that crackle on a ghostly transmission. A heavy, distant bass and lethargic trumpets lurch into a thumping industrial clatter for Pisitakun’s “000088..”
